The FA Cup Final reminded me of the risks we used to take in the 70s and 80s to get into Wembley.

Interesting piece on housing and regeneration at the time of Liverpool City Council’s fight with the Thatcher government in 1985. Look out for Braddock Heights and the Piggeries in Everton.

Nice clip of Everton FC parading the FA Cup around Liverpool in 1966 after beating Sheffield Wednesday in the final. It was an amazing year, Liverpool FC also won the League Championship and England the World Cup. In the Charity Shield match at Goodison before the start of the 66/67 season, LFC’s Roger Hunt and EFC’s Ray Wilson ran around the pitch with the League, FA Cup and World Cup trophies! That would make a cracking pub quiz question :-)

Always a favourite place of mine to take shots of the Liverpool skyline and the two cathedrals. I took this video in 2007, when the Liverpool skyline was still changing with the new developments.

Due to it’s commanding position, the Royalist Prince Rupert had his HQ here in 1644 before his army attacked Liverpool. I think it was John Bishop that said this was the last time anyone called Rupert ever won a fight in city :¬) It was also the place where the wealthy folk of Liverpool lived in their mansions in the early 1800s.

Going through some of my archive shots and thought the Blue side of our city may find this interesting. Shot from the roof of the Corinth Tower, which has since been demolished. The banner on the stadium celebrates the 125th anniversary of the club. At the start of the 2003/2004 season, Everton supporters cast votes to determine the greatest ever Everton team, which was:

Neville Southall (1981–97)
Gary Stevens (1982–89)
Brian Labone (1958–71)
Kevin Ratcliffe (1980–91)
Ray Wilson (1964–69)
Trevor Steven (1983–90)
Alan Ball (1966–71)
Peter Reid (1982–89)
Kevin Sheedy (1982–92)
Dixie Dean (1925–37)
Graeme Sharp (1980–91)
