Playing around in Photoshop to give the Royal Daffodil Mersey Ferry the tilt-shift effect and it’s turned out pretty good. I also boosted the colour saturation to give it a ‘plastic’ feel.

Liverpool Docks. Salisbury Dock. Shot in 2001. Not much has changed since, apart from the adjoining building having the roof covered and a locked metal gate has been added to the tower entrance earlier this year.

I thought it was an awful design at first, but I’m getting to like the building now and it does look nice in the evening.

If you ever get the chance – even if you do it only once – get over to Seacombe to watch the sunrise over Liverpool and the River Mersey. The 30 minutes before and 10 minutes after the sun rises can be magical. Check the weather forecast first though!
