Billy Fury sculpture and a foggy River Mersey

Hard to believe now, but there was a huge pop star before The Beatles and that was Billy Fury, real name Ronald Wycherley. Billy Fury’s career spanned from the late 1950s to the mid 1960s and in that time had 24 hits and spent 332 weeks in the UK music charts.

In 2003, sculptor Tom Murphy created this sculpture of Billy Fury. It was donated by The Sound of Fury fan club and unveiled by Jack Good, a British television producer, musical theatre producer, record producer, musician and painter.
